Abstract :This paper examines the use of ga and keredomo as a conjunctive suffix in Japanese monologue. For this analyses I collected data from monologues in TV programs. The classification of ga and keredomo can be divided into six different categories : adversative, contrasting, parallel, developmental, introductory and supplement. When used developmentally they indicate the introduction of a new topic. An examination of the uses ga and keredomo in their context reveals that the subsequent clauses is a development of the topic in the precedent clause. However the clause with ga or keredomo for the use of introduction or supplement, there is no coherence between the two clauses in terms of the topic. One of the characteristics of monologue is that in introduction and supplement both ga and keredomo clause can be used not only expressing matters about the topic, but also about the action of the speaker or listener.
